Every parent should own one!
Reviewer: Janet O. , California Date: February 23, 2010
I have to give credit to my younger sister, who did all the research for me about strollers, before I had my first (now 3 yr old) son. I (naively) was going to buy a different jogger type stroller. Knowing that we were going to eventually have a second child, she found the P&T’s and actually purchased it as a baby gift for our first born. When we had our second, she bought the jump seat piece for him! I am so thrilled with this stroller. I LOVE that it is no wider then a regular stroller (IE: doesn’t knock people over when going through the grocery store!) It is super easy to handle and fold up. We have just the regular, “Classic” model and are fine with it. A good friend purchased the ‘top of the line’ Vibe (after LOVING mine) and I do like some of the bells and whistles she has on it. I have purchased a ‘generic’ extra shade cover for the front seat (I believe it is by Sunshine Kids or something?) as well as a shade/cover piece for the back seat. I did not get the Stormy Weather Cover, as it looked a little cumbersome to get an active “I wanna get in and out alot” toddler out of. Price wise, these strollers are pretty comparable to other joggers/walking stroller, and are truly SUCH an investment. I can’t tell you how many people have stopped me on the street, at the park or in the store, to find out more about it–they are always so shocked to see there is a second child ‘underneath’! I am so grateful to my sister for finding Phil&Teds! She is due with her first son next month–The Classic P&T’s is already on her registry!

Tires are a problem
Reviewer: Anonymous , New York, NY Date: October 26, 2009
We purchased this stroller six weeks ago, and while we love how easy and compact it is, we have already had FOUR tire tubes burst on us–FOUR! And it’s a hassle to change the tubes, and we’ve had to go to the bike store to buy new tubes several times. It’s a real problem. The first time, it was because we overinflated the tires, but since that first time, we are very cautious about overinflating, and now, it seems, just regular wear and tear on a city street causes a burst tube. The manufacturer REALLY needs to address this problem.

Love it!
Reviewer: Danielle , Annapolis, MD Date: June 11, 2010
We have had this stroller for almost four years, and we absolutely love it!! I have to say that we have also had a lot of flat tires. It’s very frustrating, but I would still buy the stroller again!

Lexus of Strollers
Reviewer: Anonymous , Roseville, CA Date: February 27, 2010
I tried to go the cheaper route with my first child and like most mom’s wound up getting rid of my stroller after seriously considering to set it on fire. The Phil & Teds Sport is so much more comfortable for me AND my 3 year old. We love to walk on trails and that was not possible with normal strollers. And now that I am pregnant, I love getting a work out pushing him in this stroller. Can’t wait to put the doubles kit into good use when our next little guy gets here! I am not exaggerating that this stroller is EVERY BIT worth the price and it seriously feels like driving a new Lexus after years in a 1989 Bronco. :) Do yourself a favor and get this stroller the first time instead of trying to be thrifty and doing it later anyway.

Absolutely perfect… (despite its imperfections)
Reviewer: Katie B. , Sarasota, FL Date: October 01, 2009
While I agree with many of the complaints (difficult brake mechanism, awkward fold, mediocre sunshade) I still find this to be the perfect stroller. I bought this when my oldest was 4 & my second was due shortly. While pregnant, I used it as a single stroller. After the baby, I was able to use in infant / toddler mode. As my oldest lost interest in being in a stroller, I went back to using as a single. THEN we ended up with back to back babies… so after our third was born, we went right back to infant / toddler mode. Right now, we’ve graduated into toddler/toddler mode. After the second becomes too old for a stroller, I’ll go back to using as a single again. Plus -although I have two toddlers right now, if I’m out with just one of them, I can have a single stroller in just a push of a button. (Or I can use the doubles seat as storage for shopping or lugging packages to the post office.) The versatility is amazing – even if the braking mechanism is not. If you have only one kid, I can think of lots of other strollers that can do more for you… but if you’re ever planning on having more, you might want to start with this one. It’ll save you some serious money in the long run. Ours has stood up to some serious abuse & we just LOVE it. Best uses: theme parks, zoo, shopping, downtown, events, parks, neighborhood walks, museums. It has kept me completely mobile – and that’s saying a lot for someone with three young kids.

Safe going down hills
Reviewer: Anonymous , New York, New York Date: April 16, 2010
I really like the stroller for the most part. I think it is the best doubles stroller for city living especially. One of the other reviewers said that it is unsafe going down hills and I believe that is not true. They provide a safety strap that you can wrap very easily around your wrist. That way if it did get away from you a little the strap would keep the kiddies safe. Trust me, I live at the bottom of a very big hill and I wouldn’t use the stroller if I didn’t feel it was safe. Great overall stroller.

Dads love it too
Reviewer: John Smith , Valencia, CA Date: September 02, 2009
After the initial shock that I was going to have to pay for another stroller I found that this Stroller was a great concept. Our second child comes into the world in two days. We have a two year old and did not want a bulky football field length stroller. We received it about two months ago and I love it. It is fantastic. It is not as easy to fold and extend as our Chicco stroller, but the Chicco Stroller is not a double stroller. Takes some getting used to. I wish it had cheaper accessories but this is a $700 stroller. It’s like asking for a $100 stereo in a Bentley. All in all this is a perfect stroller. I recommend it to every one.

Editor’s Phil and Teds (Phil&Teds) Hammerhead Review:

The Hammerhead is Phil & Teds newest variation of the Classic, with its most noticeable difference being the addition of one wheel in the front. Now offering 2 front wheels, the Hammerhead Stroller promises to offer more stability over uneven terrain, even though we haven’t heard of many complaints from the 3 wheel models. Even thought the 4th wheel may add stability, it also adds weight. Where the Phil and Teds Classic come in at around 25lbs, expect the Hammerhead to come in closer to the 30lb mark. Arguments can be made that the extra wheel also ups the carrying capacity by a few pounds, which may come into play when carrying two children with the Doubles Kit of older age.

The Front wheels lock or swivel based on the users preference, with the swivel position obviously advantageous in tight spaces. You’ll also appreciate additional controls at your fingertips, like hand actuated folding mechanism as well as hand activated brake. Other than that, you’ll realize all the other Phil & Ted’s stroller benefits. The new Hammerhead isn’t a big step forward and we’re still a little confused on the thinking behind adding another wheel. Unless you’re really intent on having a 4 wheel stroller, we’d suggest the Phil & Teds Classic, Dash, Sport or Vibe.

perfect mix of size, style and function
Reviewer: Anonymous , New York Date: June 07, 2010
I love my vibe. just spent a whole day in the city with 3 kids, 2, 4 and 6 yrs. they all had a ride and a sleep. We rode the subway and got into the smallest bodegas. Great big canopy, clip on cupholder and plenty of room in the basket. looks great with yellow cushy ride seat liners I bought with it.

Had the Stroller One Year
Reviewer: Anonymous , Fountain Valley, CA Date: March 29, 2010
I have 2 kids under the age of 3 and when I was pregnant with my 2nd I did a lot of research on double strollers. I found the VIBE, which had great reviews and chose this as my double stroller. I was very excited about it and always receive comments on it. However, after the high cost of it and only having it for a year it seems to be slowly falling apart. The sunshade which we purchased never fit right so we have been unable to use it, the front seats seat belt broke (I dont know how), the hand brake is in an awful place and is constantly hit by accident and now one of the back wheels is deflated. I dont take it on rugged terrain and we are not rough with the stroller (although baby strollers should be durable anyway). I do love my vibe but am sad its not to the quality I had hoped especially for the amount of money we paid.
